Syracuse, NY -- There's a new drug in town that's 50 times stronger than heroin and more profitable for drug dealers, Onondaga County Sheriff Gene Conway warned. It's called fentanyl, and it's hitting Syracuse's suburbs as hard -- or harder -- than the city. Detectives who busted a large fentanyl operation Wednesday in Clay seized a loaded shotgun, a fake submachine gun, nearly 6,000 doses and nearly $4,000 in cash. Fentanyl is so potent that the drug dealers themselves warned detectives not to touch it without gloves.
